Spring/Summer's Pastels

Pastels are a huge trend for Spring/Summer 2010 and were completely unavoidable in every city during fashion month. The ice-cream colour palette is so refreshing and dreamy - I'm already looking forward to wearing these floaty girly numbers again. It's nice to have toned down from all the extreme acid bright that we've seen in previous seasons too.

Yes, dark boring colours can hide a multitude of sins and are always 'fail safe', but it's so much more inspiring when people play with colour and pull it off, it shows a lot more creative flair. And who really wants to look dull, in the fashion world especially?

I'm done with winter already and it's only just really hitting... Always have been and always will be a sunflower.

Nice

I have a random craving for a floaty maxi skirt at the minute. I think I saw someone wearing one during London Fashion Week and felt inspired. This picture has made the craving stronger, especially with those adorable Chloe flats. No high street shop has even come close to copying them yet.

In case you're a bit behind

please please watch this
Oh the pastels, oh the socks and shoes, oh the trenches, oh the draping, oh the ruched skinny trousers, oh the sparkles, oh the models, oh the front row...

It's strange how simple colours and simple hair and make-up can look so drop dead amazing.
Christopher Bailey is making London proud - please stay!
Lily Donaldson + Burberry also has to be the most perfect brand/model combination.

PS. I am aware that this is my second Burberry dedicated post in 24 hours. It's purely accidental, but totally deserved.

LFW - the rest

Today was exciting!

I didn't bother trying to get into any shows but I saw Anna Wintour, Lara Stone, Freja Beha Erichsen and Erin O'Connor - the latter for the millionth time over the past few weeks - within metres of where I was standing (people watching is the best at fashion week) along with the whole UK Vogue and Glamour team and many other infamous fashion journalists, all arriving at Somerset House for the Jaeger show.

My papparazi skills are pretty shocking but I managed to get a few snaps.

This is Freja, my camera didn't have time to adjust to the light, or lack thereof?

Jason Gardiner? I didn't know either...

Oh yeah, I pearled out my Blackberry Pearl.

All images quite obviously taken by me - awful haha

Just A Quickie - LFW

So I didn't go to the Ioannis show in the end. Turns out it was miles away from the other events (I would have had to take a tube and 2 overground trains to get there) and didnt realise this until an hour before we planned to leave.
I'm working on getting some straight ups together for my uni project and will post them all on here once the fashion week plus working at Aldo drama is complete.
For now, I'll post a few of my favourite pictures from today. I went to two shows at Vauxhall Fashion Scout and did an awful lot of people watching in the blazing hot sun. I forgot my sunglasses as well, damn it.

Itsu sushi's 'strawberry sun' frozen yoghurt is my favourite non-guilty pleasure!

The Matches pop-up store at Somerset House

Bryce d'Anice Aime - I loved this show, especially all the spiky structuring...

In mad love with this particular outfit

Alice Palmer - we weren't in a very good position for taking photographs for this show...

Structure + buns on the top of everyone's heads are still going strong.
I need to try and keep up with the rest of the shows on Style.com. Life feels so hectic right now, but I'm enjoying it!
Hope everyone is enjoying fashion month.
More posts ASAP

London Fashion Week

Starts tomorrow!

EXCITEMENT!

-
I'll be attending the Ioannisdimitrousis show tomorrow evening, with an actual invite this time as oppposed to just hanging around hoping to get in - though I will probably spend the next few days afterwards doing that. I love going to the shows. They're so short but so exciting, even if the collection itself turns out to be nothing special.

Apologies for being so god awful at posting. I've been working a lot at Aldo and whenever I'm not working I celebrate by turning super lazy - not good. I'm working on another post for tonight though. It is the calm before the storm.

-
I won't be covering fashion month in so much detail this time around as my photoshop needs sorting out again and with all the projects coming up I will hardly have time. Maybe I'll select some snippets of my favourite shows when it's all over. My coverage has nothing on Style.com, let's be honest.

-
Just to close this post I have to post some images on the wonderful Vivienne Westwood posing outside her first Red Label show this time last year. Who needs to age gracefully anyway? Not our Viv...

Roksanda Ilincic - London Fashion Week

I got myself into another show!

I do love a bit of 'important people' spotting, and fashion week is always was the perfect place, although most editors only really have one little picture in their magazines for me to go from.
Spot Jane Bruton of Grazia sat opposite in the pink scarf, and Hilary Alexander with the shiny brunette bob appearing in most of my pictures haha
I was sat next to Susie Bubble, but didn't really dare say anything to anyone, so I just took lots of pictures.
I willl be on the front row one day my sweets...

Here are the pretty bad pictures I took - (note to self: invest in new camera that doesnt pause for 5 years before letting you take another snap)

Some very beautiful dresses. I really love the fur coat with the bow tied around the waist. The puffy sleeve detail on some of the garments reminds me a bit too much of last season Dolce & Gabbana though...

London Fashion Week...

Yesterday, I was given the chance to help out backstage for the Ioannisdimitrousis Vauxhall Fashion Scout show. Katy Lassen - the fashion editor of Let Them Eat Cake - was styling the show, and my friend who interns for her asked for the help of my friends and I to dress the models. It was my first backstage experience, and I was a total bag of nerves when I got there, but all was fine; the clothes were fabulous (tricky, but fabulous) and everyone was really friendly. I did feel a bit sorry for some of the models - particularly those who had to wear the garments made entirely of needles, but it all made for a great end result. There was a lot of standing around, and the show started an hour late, but that's the world of fashion I guess.
Here are some of the pictures I sneaked.

It was all about the chains, needles and fine knits at this show. The dresses in this last image kind of remind me of Rodarte. There are plenty of beautiful dresses here that I would definitely wear if I had a models figure, along with the bravery to wear nipple bearing dresses...

Thanks for reading, will be posting much more this week! Promises...
